How to Clear Your Browser Cache (And When to Do It)

After we make big updates to your website — like new design changes, updated photos, or new features — you might still see the old version of the site, or a strange looking version that looks incomplete.

This happens because your web browser saves (caches) parts of websites to load them faster next time. While this is normally helpful, it can cause problems after major updates. Clearing your browser cache forces the browser to download the fresh version of the site.

Here’s how to do it on the most common browsers:

Google Chrome

  1. Click the three dots ⋮ in the top-right corner.
  2. Hover over More tools → click Clear browsing data.
    • Or go to Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data.
  3. At the top, set Time range to All time.
  4. Check the box for Cached images and files.
  5. (Optional) Also check Cookies and other site data if you want to fully refresh everything.
  6. Click Clear data.
  7. Close and reopen Chrome completely.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the three dots ⋮ in the top-right corner.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. On the left menu, click Privacy, search, and services.
  4. Under “Clear browsing data”, click Choose what to clear.
  5. Set Time range to All time.
  6. Check Cached images and files.
  7. Click Clear now.
  8. Close and reopen Edge completely.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the three horizontal lines ☰ in the top-right corner.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click Privacy & Security on the left.
  4. Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data and click Clear Data.
  5. Check Cached Web Content.
  6. Click Clear.
  7. Close and reopen Firefox.

Safari (on Mac)

  1. In the top menu bar, click Safari → Settings (or Preferences).
  2. Click the Privacy tab.
  3. Click Manage Website Data…
  4. Click Remove All → Confirm.
  5. Close and reopen Safari.

Quick Tip After Clearing Cache

Once you’ve cleared the cache, press Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac) while viewing your website. This forces a hard refresh and usually shows the updated version immediately.

If you’ve made major changes and still don’t see them, try clearing the cache again or testing in a different browser.
